John O’Shea will take charge of Ireland on an interim basis for the second consecutive window, while the FAI continue to search for a permanent head coach.
John O’Shea has given his thoughts on Damien Duff ’s fiery blast at the FAI and his view that the interim Ireland manager has been ‘left out to dry’.
“Damien is entitled to his opinion. I haven't seen the full… As I’m sure when you see the full quotes and the full story etc, but no, I don’t feel that’s the case,” he said.O’Shea is keen to land the job on a permanent basis, but insists that he is focused only on the June friendlies. “First and foremost we will focus on Hungary which will be a tough test, but one we’re hoping we can get a good result from at the Aviva.
The Aintree-born forward was then called up for the senior training camp in Bristol last summer, but withdrew, citing tonsillitis. “Seeing Tom with the U21s, I know what a talent he is, what type of striker he is. I spoke to him and his agent as well and said, ‘take your time, and when you are ready just get back in touch with me’.“He was with his family when I spoke to him and they were very proud and very happy to be committing to the Republic of Ireland.”
“Troy Parrott, when he does eventually finish the play-off game he is Involved with in the Netherlands, he is scoring goals. “In March the advances and strides he has taken in the last year to six month. have been brilliant to see. He will definitely be involved in the games, that's for sure.”
