US officials have debunked claims of a third assassination attempt on Donald Trump, clarifying that no such threat existed at a California rally where a man was arrested with multiple weapons and fake IDs.
Despite being released on the same day on $5,000 bail, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco suggested that police "probably thwarted a potential third assassination attempt" on the ex-president. Contradicting this, the US Attorney's office stated that Trump was never in harm's way and dismissed any claims of an assassination attempt.
Trump's team has yet to make any statements regarding the incident. In a separate case last month, Ryan Routh, 58, from Hawaii, faced indictment over an attempted assassination after he allegedly monitored the former president for 12 hours and expressed a wish to kill him.
