Despite suffering a devastating Achilles tear that will likely keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season, Chiedozie Ogbene has remained positive throughout his recovery, inspiring his teammates at both club and country level. Ireland defender Dara O’Shea praised Ogbene’s attitude, highlighting his dedication to rehabilitation and unwavering optimism even in a challenging situation.
Ipswich Town and Ireland defender Dara O’Shea has spoken highly of his club and country teammate Chiedozie Ogbene ’s attitude during his recovery from a devastating achilles tear. The former Cork City and Limerick winger suffered the injury during an October Premier League clash with Ipswich Town . At the time, his manager Kieran McKenna confirmed that he would be “out for a period of time.” A week later, McKenna confirmed that Ogbene had undergone surgery, adding: “It went well.
It’s unlikely that he’ll play any more football this season, though.” Despite this setback, just months after his €10m move from Luton Town to Ipswich, Ogbene has remained remarkably positive, according to O’Shea. The 24-time capped Ireland star managed just five Premier League appearances for Ipswich, plus three Championship outings for Luton, before his injury. But according to O’Shea, he is refusing to let his time on the sidelines get him down. O’Shea told Newstalk's Off The Ball: “Chieo is Chieo, he is as happy as ever and he is doing really well, and he is progressing well as well. “I think it’s positivity for us even looking at him being in a tough situation mentally, to be as positive as he is in that situation and to be working hard, he is there all hours on the training ground and he is trying to get himself back fit, which is a credit to him. “Hopefully he can really push on and get his recovery right.
