The omicron variant, which has double the number of mutations of the delta variant, is thought to be highly contagious and has led to cases being found worldwide.The total number of confirmed UK omicron cases has now surpassed 10,000, with a further 4,671 cases of the variant reported as of Wednesday 15 December.
