The first movie in the franchise - The Conjuring - was released in 2013 and followed two married paranormal investigators in the '70s as they worked to help a family terrorised by a dark presence in their farmhouse.Earning rave reviews - an 86% on Rotten Tomatoes - and grossing nearly $320 million at the box office on a $20 million budget, the film inspired a number of hit spin-offs including the Annabelle trilogy, as well as The Curse of La Llorona and The Nun.
