Damien Duff was extremely unhappy with one incident during last week’s win away to Waterford.

Damien Duff has slammed the challenge that led to Ryan Burke’s second-half red card in Waterford last week as one of the worst he has seen during his time so far in the League of Ireland.“It was awful… one of the worst I’ve seen in the league in four years. Disgraceful,” slammed Duff, ahead of Friday’s visit of Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers.

“Evan Caffrey was disappointed going into that Derry game that he was not going to start, but within 12 hours, he was in the starting lineup and he scored,” said Duff. “You don’t win anything in a fortnight; it’s a 36-game season. What we need to do is stay grounded and stay humble, keep doing our work.”

“The wind, the pitch, down there, it was tough, but I couldn’t be more pleased with the start and that we had to find a different way to win than we did the previous game.”
