Communities like mine in Houston – one of the world’s top resettlement cities – are working to step up and serve immigrants who are being left behind. When Kabul fell to the Taliban in August of 2021, Houston welcomed approximatelyand ultimately received more Afghan refugees than did 47 other US states – a near tenfold increase from the prior year.
That’s why I joined 150 advocates from business, faith and law enforcement sectors for the National Immigration Forum’s “” in Washington, D.C. in November, to call for Congress to pass immigration and border reforms in the last few weeks of this year.
