Bannsiders boss says Northern Ireland call is 'just rewards' for Kilmarnock' man's form
Oran Kearney says Brad Lyons' first senior international call-up is "just rewards" for the former Coleraine man's impressive performances.
Lyons has played a key role in Kilmarnock's bright start to the season which has seen them beat the Old Firm with the 26-year-old netting the winner in the victory over Rangers. It has been some turn around for Lyons at Rugby Park as he has gone from a bit-part player last season to a first-team regular deputising as captain in Kyle Vassell and Rory McKenzie's absence.Kearney, who played a key role in Lyons' development handing him his debut as a 17-year-old at Coleraine, is delighted to see the Ballymoney man finally get international recognition."I sent him a message, he's delighted and rightfully so.
"It's been topsy-turvy for him and there were question marks at the end of the season whether or not he would stay at Kilmarnock. "However, it's funny how football works as he had a fantastic last five or six games, earned his contract, had a brilliant pre-season, remained injury free and been a mainstay in the team for the first six or seven games.
