SDCCU Holiday Bowl adds another memorable chapter to its history when Ducks quarterback Bo Nix tosses 6-yard TD pass with 19 seconds remaining in 28-27 win

The place it called home for 42 years was demolished, and the new accommodations downtown needed retrofitting to fit in the field. It had been three years since the SDCCU Holiday Bowl staged a college football game. The Holiday Bowl added another chapter to its string of fantastic finishes, with Oregon quarterback Bo Nix throwing a 6-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Chase Cota on fourth down with 19 seconds remaining.

North Carolina had the ball at the Oregon 41-yard line with 1 second remaining, but a crowd dominated by Ducks fans roared its approval when a Hail Mary pass was knocked to the turf in the end zone by Oregon defensive back Trikweze Bridges. The shootout oddsmakers predicted between the two teams — the over/under of 75 was the highest among all 41 bowl games — never materialized.

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix throws game-winning touchdown pass to Chase Cota before North Carolina defenders can get to him. “Our defense did a great job of continuing to give us the ball back,” Nix said. “In a game like that, they had a really good offense, so they could have scored a little bit more. So our defense did a great job of stopping them and giving us the ball back several times.North Carolina took an improbable 21-14 halftime lead on a 49-yard touchdown pass from Maye to Kobe Paysour with 26 seconds remaining before the half.On second-and-5 from the UNC 16-yard line, Nix threw behind his receiver.
