When Scream was released in December 1996, nobody could have anticipated that it would become one of the most popular and long-standing slasher franchises of all time. Despite a lackluster opening weekend, the horror film, which introduced a mysterious killer in a Ghostface Halloween costume, went on to become a hit making household names of its talented cast of actors, including Courteney Cox and Drew Barrymore.
Although she has appeared in all of the Scream movies over the years, she announced that she would not be returning for the 2023 installment. She explained to Deadline, "As a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.

And now on Scream 4, we have a child. It's sort of an amazing marker throughout our lives.
Matthew Lillard As Billy's partner in crime, Stu Macher also ranks among the most ruthless killers under the Ghostface mask and, as one of the early films in Matthew's career, Scream helped secure his place as a 90s icon. Rose was a part of the #MeToo movement in 2017 and shared her story of rape by Harvey Weinstein, becoming one of the prominent voices of the movement. She went on to write a memoir called "Brave," where she discussed her experiences with sexual assault in Hollywood, as well as her upbringing in a religious cult.
