Let’s take a look at the winners in chronological order:This 1931 film by King Vidor was nominated for four Oscars and came out with a fifty-fifty win. The film won Best Actor for Wallace Berry’s performance, as well as Best Original Story.Debuting in 1942, this film follows New York Yankees slugger Lou Gehrig in his baseball journey.
Hugh Hudson’s British historical sports drama paired with Vangelis’ iconic musical score was released in 1981. In that same year the film took home four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Costume Design and Best Original Score.Tom Cruise was nominated for the award for Best Actor in this 1996 classic, but Cruise left empty handed while the award for Best Supporting Actor was given to his co-star Cuba Gooding Jr.
