Martin Compston) on the outs after he was caught cheating, and in a series of flashbacks to the ultimate sale of the house, it seems like things are only going from bad to worse for the pair.
"He's doing sort of more morally questionable and despicable things, but you need to be rooting for him," he told us."You need to want him to get his family back, otherwise there's no sympathy, nobody really cares what happens from an audience perspective. So I really saw that as a challenge. There are plenty of examples of this throughout the first episode, where he seems to be a man who has everything – perfect home, perfect kids, perfect wife in Fi – and yet still throws it out of the window for a one-off rollaround with his wife's close friend.
"He has to be thinking 'there could be somebody dead in the car'," Martin says."If you've just waved that off and you're not thinking about it at all, just worried about getting back together with your wife, then you're a lunatic!"So it's trying to keep [Bram's head in] that moment and I loved it. I think great TV's really frustrating, because it makes you want to shout at the TV.
