Our recommendation for Texas’ 32nd Congressional District | Opinion

We recommend incumbent Democrat Colin Allred over Republican Antonio Swad for the 32nd Congressional District. First elected to this seat in 2018, Allred, 39, has supported many key Democratic party priorities, such as voting rights, lower drug costs for seniors, infrastructure spending projects and climate change initiatives. He also has been an attentive steward to the needs of this district, which includes much of the eastern side of Dallas County.More recently, his bipartisan efforts with the U.S. Rep.
He’s also a strong proponent of American economic competitiveness, having voted for the free trade agreement that replaced NAFTA, and federal legislation to increase semiconductor production in the United States. We found refreshing nuance to Allred’s responses on immigration issues. He called Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision to transport migrants to other states a political stunt, but he also said the nation needs bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform that enlists states in the solution.
