Suu Kyi, who was ousted in a military coup, faces several other charges which could add up to a 100-year prison sentence.

A Myanmar court on Monday sentenced the country’s ousted leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, to an additional four years in prison after finding her guilty of importing and possessing unlicensed walkie-talkies and violating pandemic rules, one of several charges brought against her by the country’s military dictatorship.

The former national leader was also handed a two-year sentence by the court for violating the country’s disaster management law after violating coronavirus rules while campaigning., which has since been commuted to two years by the military junta leadership. The 76-year-old Nobel Peace Laureate faces several other charges that could see her sentenced to 100 years in prison if she’s found guilty.

Suu Kyi’s hearings are being held behind closed doors, with prosecutors and her lawyers ordered to not comment on them publicly.
