Restaurants that break 10 p.m. curfew or other rules could get their $250 permits pulled

Martinez city officials say the $250 fee will cover the cost of reviewing permit applications that allow restaurants to do business in the open air. “I’ve been downtown and I have seen some violations from time to time, so I want to make sure know there are certain parameters to this,” Vice Mayor Debbie McKillop said. “They work in unison with not just their fellow businesses, but also their fellow residents who live in the community.”
Through the permit program, parts of Main Street will be closed to car traffic from 5 to 10 p.m. on weekends. The new hours went into effect Friday, with the city launching an online application that restaurants can fill out while keeping their outdoor setups open in the interim.
