So much history just gone in an instant 😡
Residents in Darwen have spoken of their fury after brazen thieves lifted a series of century-old flagstones from a pavement.
Ms Pearce urged residents to take care when walking along the pavement and said she was "fuming". She said: "Last night 21 gorgeous stones were stolen from on the railway bridge by Carr Road/St John's Street. It makes my blood boil.
"My family have lived round here for generations. Stuff like this never used to happen back in the day. People just have no shame these days. "You hear of people ripping up metal to sell at scrapyards, or stealing bikes or whatever, but this really is a new low. The sad thing is though that flags like that are worth quite a bit of money and no doubt they'll be flogged to some reclamation yard."
