More than €20 million will be spent on acquiring two new aircraft for An Garda Síochána
It is anticipated that the helicopter will become operational this year, while the plane will come into use in 2024.
Altogether, €21.5m will be spent on acquiring the aircraft, with funding coming from the Brexit Adjustment Reserve Fund. The Minister for Justice Simon Harris welcomed the announcement, saying that it would"significantly boost the State's aerial support and ability to uphold national security".
