Thousands of runners participated in the 2024 Irish Life Dublin Marathon, with Kenyan Moses Kemei taking the overall victory and Asmirach Nega setting a new course record for women. Colin Farrell also joined the event, raising significant funds for charity.
Over 22,000 people participated in the 2024 Irish Life Dublin Marathon on Sunday. The race began at Leeson Street Lower at 8:40 am, winding through Dublin's streets before concluding at Mount Street Upper. Tens of thousands ran 26 miles to the finish line. Kenyan Moses Kemei was the first to cross, achieving a personal best time of 2:08:47. Hiko Tonosa from Dundrum South Dublin AC broke the Irish record to win the national marathon title in 2:09:42, securing third place overall.
Asmirach Nega was the first woman to finish, setting a course record time of 2:24:13. Ann-Marie McGlynn of Letterkenny AC won the Irish women's title for the second consecutive year with a time of 2:34:05. Hollywood actor Colin Farrell also participated, running the final leg of the marathon with his friend Emma Fogarty. The pair raised €700,000 for charity.
