“I was so nervous but most of all excited to be able to get to be a part of something like this. I suffer from bad anxiety, and this was a test for me to be able to handle that amount of stress,” she says. “I feel like after my James Beard nomination, I was nervous that I wouldn’t be taken seriously if I lost or did the show to begin with. I’m happy I did it and was able to make myself proud.
She of course can’t say how she fared in the pre-recorded competition, but the first episode of the show airs Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. CST on Discovery+.Trejo isn’t the only Texan on the show. Also competing isThe other competitors Trejo goes up against are Marcus Brackett from Rockville, Maryland; Jill Davis from Owosso, Mich.; AJ DeDiego from Atlanta, Georgia; Kristi Descher from Valencia, Calif.; Lola Forbes from Mesa, Ariz.; Margarita Garcia from Miami, Fla.
