'It's not believed the dogs were taken purposely and they may have been removed from the vehicle'
Lancashire Constabulary said the two female Bernese Mountain dogs were inside a blue Toyota Hiace van that was stolen from a propert in Forton. The incident happened shortly before 11pm last night .
Officers say it's 'not believed the dogs were taken purposely' and that they 'may have been removed from the vehicle'. The location of the dogs is currently unknown and police are urging members of the public to look out for them.In a statement, Lancaster Area Police said: "Police investigating a burglary in Forton are appealing for information. We were called to an address in Forton at around 10.55pm on Thursday 30th 2023 to the report of a burglary.
"In the burglary a Blue Toyota Hiace was stolen. In the van was a quad bike and 2 female Bernese Mountain dogs. "It's not believed the dogs were taken purposely and they may have been removed from the vehicle. We don't know the current location of these dogs so would ask people to look out for them so they can be returned to their owners who are frantic.
"A photo of a Bernese mountain dog is [above]. They are quite distinct. Please call police on 101 quoting log lc-20230330-1420."
