Store managers at two Philadelphia Starbucks locations have been accused of discouraging workers from unionizing.

The National Labor Relations Board reportedly has filed a lawsuit against a couple of Starbucks locations in Pa. for “union-busting.”, store managers at two Philadelphia Starbucks locations at 20th and Market Street, and the other at 34th and Walnut Street have been accused of discouraging workers from unionizing.

The managers are also accused of reducing union workers’ hours and wages without real notice. Two employees were also fired for participating in union activities, according to the complaint.

“On the flip side, it’s frustrating that Starbucks, as a corporation, was able to completely destabilize my life and livelihood, and not just me, but many other folks across the country,” she added. “And for what? Because we wanted machines that didn’t cause us 3rd degree burns, or because we wanted to be able to afford rent and food?”, in addition to the lawsuit, NLRB wants each Starbucks manager or supervisor to undergo training on employee rights.
