Jameson was 7-13 with a 6.31 ERA, 132 strikeouts and a 1.49 WHIP in 132 2/3 innings as he rose from Amarillo to Reno . Jameson can push his fastball into triple digits and throws a sinking change-up, a slider and a curve — stuff that the Diamondbacks are trusting over the raw results.“The guys that come here, we throw the numbers out. We’re focusing on the data.”
That data likely includes current Padres’ history with Jameson this year in the Pacific Coast League:The Padres, however, won’t set Thursday’s lineup until after Brandon Drury, on the concussion list, takes batting practice. Drury had been in Peoria, Ariz. Ramping up baseball activity while the Padres were in Seattle and was in the clubhouse before the game.
On the mound, left-hander Sean Manaea is also making a return to the rotation after the Padres skipped him in the Dodges series. Manaea struck out two in a scoreless inning on Saturday, touching 95 mph on the radar gun.
