“I am grateful to be transferred here'
A Wellingborough jail has been given a "five-star rating" by a notorious paedophile inmate. HMP Five Wells, which cost £250 million to build, opened in February last year. Last month, videos appearing to show inmates smoking cannabis and drinking alcohol at the Northamptonshire prison were circulated on Snapchat.
Now, paedophile Michael Thurman has given it a glowing review in prison mag Inside Time. Thurman, 80, who was given seven years for sex attacks on a five-year-old girl, called it “a 5-star establishment” reports the Daily Mirror.He wrote: “I am grateful to be transferred here. The cells have ample room, but are slightly lacking in shelves. At last I am in a prison where, as a form of respect, the guards use our Christian names and told us theirs.
The pervert, from Leicestershire, went on the run in 2017 after his abuse was reported. He fled to Fuerteventura in the Canaries but was caught by police. He was subsequently extradited and jailed in 2020.
