A Paisley man has narrowly avoided jail after he set two toilet rolls on fire within a Renfrewshire homeless accommodation unit.

At Paisley Sheriff Court, Sheriff Thomas Ward slammed Stewart’s behaviour as he has a previous conviction for committing the same offence. "Drink and drugs were involved but he now has a new tenancy, he is taking this very seriously and has sought help. If he didn’t have a previous conviction for the same offence, he wouldn’t be within the custody threshold.”
