One aid worker told i there were airstrikes ‘almost everywhere in Gaza’ overnight on Sunday and that they were ‘concentrated in the south’
Palestinians look for their belongings among the rubble of their destroyed houses as Israeli attacks continue on the 10th day in Gaza City Mahmoud Shalabi, senior programme manager at Medical Aid for Palestinians , said there were airstrikes “almost everywhere in Gaza” overnight on Sunday and that they were “concentrated in the south”.
The IDF promised not to bomb a route that it declared safe for the evacuation, but reports have emerged of airstrikes targeting areas in southern Gaza to which Palestinians are fleeing. Mr Shalabi is in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza with his family, having refused to leave in an act of defiance against the Israeli order. He said that while airstrikes largely subsided on Monday, many Palestinians are still without water, electricity and fuel.
“We had two children from different places who are both severely injured and who both carried the term ‘wounded child, no surviving family’. It’s one of the heartbreaking things you can ever see,” he said. “For the fuel, the hospitals have said that today will mark the 24 hours for hospitals and then they will go into pitch black darkness,” he added.
“Gaza is on the brink of a real famine as goods in stores are running out, and no aid is reaching the remaining residents and displaced individuals,” he added.
