Paws For Thought: Entrepreneur and beauty expert Pamela Laird introduces her stunning rescue puppy Winnie and opens up about how she is settling in, her tips for raising a puppy and why she loves dogs
She adopted the beautiful puppy earlier this year.
How did the gorgeous Winnie come into your life? It was so last minute! We were unprepared and we had nothing. I already have a dog, she’s a five-year-old Chihuahua called Tallulah and we got her in 2019 after my dog Bambi died, who was 11. I always wanted to get Tallulah a friend because a lot of our friends got dogs around the same time and they all used to play together as puppies.
When my friend adopted a dog, she decided she wanted a small dog as well. It was actually Linda Martin’s shelter, the Dublin Dog Hub, that had two puppies left. My friend took the boy and when we saw the little girl, my boyfriend gave me the eyes and said, “We’re taking her”. How are she and Tallulah getting along so far? Tallulah is very much like, “Get this toddler away” ! I think she’s finding it a bit overwhelming, so we’re trying to give her as much attention as possible while still looking after the puppy. Winnie is a bit boisterous and Tallulah is very chilled, she’s a bit of an old lady at times. It’s not been as smooth as I thought it would be but it takes dogs time to get used to each other.
