The ceremony takes place along a six kilometre stretch of the River Seine in the French capital, is scheduled to start at 6.30pm Irish time.
The opening ceremony for the Paris Olympics takes place in Paris on Friday evening, with golfer Shane Lowry and hurdler Sarah Lavin set to carry Ireland’s flag at the event.
Ireland's boat is number 36 and Lowry and Lavin will be joined on it by a number of other Irish athletes and Team Ireland staff. They will also be accompanied by Iraq's representatives for the opening ceremony, with the two teams sharing the boat.
