'It is a minority ruining it'
Neighbours of 'fabulous park' have described how the area is being 'ruined' in the evenings over reports of suspected drug dealers and drivers doing 'donuts' in the car park nearby. following anti-social behaviour in and around Vernon Park in Old Basford.
She said: "We have managed to get the local community protection officers and police to step us patrols in the area to stop people from gathering there. People said that they are gathering and playing music there, and that they are doing donuts in the car park."The residents here are entitled to peace and quiet in the evening. We cannot lock the park at night, it is not practical because it is being used as a cut through by commuters early in the morning.
Parkgoers have also been speaking about the issues. Kelly Moss, a pharmacy dispenser at Boots, was walking her dog in the park. The 42-year-old, who has lived in the area for 25 years, added: "It is a nice park but you have got a couple of people who spoil it. It is a shame because it is a minority ruining it."
