His long-term relationship with the mother of five of his children was marked by domestic violence, theIt found he had “low” potential for reintegration, and imposed conditions on his statutory release when the time arrived, including a ban on drugs and alcohol, following a treatment plan, not contacting his victims, reporting his close relationships and avoiding certain people, such as those involved in crime.
He eventually got statutory release — which is available to most federal offenders after serving two-thirds of their sentence, but can be revoked if they violate any conditions imposed by the board — when his security classification was lowered. The release was suspended in November 2021 after his former partner told parole supervisors he’d been living with her in violation of his no-contact order, according to a second parole board document dated Feb. 1, 2022.
The board concluded he would “not present an undue risk to society” if granted statutory release in its 2022 assessment. Sanderson was subsequently released again, with a new condition: that he stay away from the woman and his children, except with the permission of his parole supervisor as necessary for parenting responsibilities or programs related to domestic violence.
