A cold front forecast to hit the Bay Area on Tuesday may be a little wetter than expected.
Sunday, forecasters had said Tuesday's storm would likely deliver up to a tenth of an inch across the region. Today, Brooke Bingaman, a meteorologist with the weather service, said a large portion of the Bay Area, especially along the coast and bayfront, could see up to a quarter of an inch, and the Santa Cruz Mountains and North Bay mountains may record upward of a half inch.
"We just updated the forecast," Bingaman told SFGATE on the phone at 2 p.m. Monday."We are seeing a little bit of an uptick in the forecast." The cold front originating in the Gulf of Alaska is expected to soak the Pacific Northwest before arriving in the Bay Area early Tuesday. The first showers could hit the North Bay as early as 5 a.m.
"The rest of the Bay Area will start seeing some rain by 8 a.m. or 9 a.m.," Bingaman said."The cold front will persist into early morning and the rest of the afternoon. It won’t be until 4 or 5 p.m. Tuesday that it will have exited the Bay Area."Top Picks In Shopping
