An SAS veteran has spoken out about the 'uncaring' way he was treated by Ryanair staff after he was refused boarding for a flight to Manchester
Brian Denvir said a mix-up with his name on his boarding pass meant he was refused on his flight by check-in staff. The decorated SAS veteran was attempting to catch a Ryanair flight from Cork to Manchester Airport when the incident occurred.
The retired haulage company boss was trying to visit his daughter and her family in his second home in West Cork. However, he was able to board a later flight to Liverpool, free of charge, but this didn't land until 11.30pm. Father of eight and grandfather of four, Mr Denvir is partially sighted after suffering a stroke following complications during surgery to remove a brain tumour. He said: "It was probably one of the worst days I've had in the last few years.
The passenger says he does not want compensation from Ryanair, but simply to highlight how 'uncaring' his treatment was. He said: "It was a long day and a long night all for a little bit of confusion which could have been fixed within five minutes. It was a situation that just wasn't necessary."
