While the country yearns for a return to the way things were, the new normal could be a lot worse than the old version.
The people who gave us the world’s longest lockdowns appeared to set out to prove the public is too stupid to be trusted to self-test or might even try to fake the results. The tens of thousands who face losing their job in the all-but-destroyed aviation industry have every reason to believe this was a stunt too far when antigen testing might help them back to work.
