Paul Holmes, who made over 400 professional appearances for Doncaster, Torquay, Birmingham, Everton and West Brom, has passed away aged 56 after a battle with cancer

Holmes played as a right-back and made over 400 professional appearances for Doncaster, Torquay, Birmingham, Everton and West Bromwich Albion between 1986 and 2003.

Holmes diagnosed with cancer in 2023 but remained a regular visitor to Torquay matches. He was honoured by the club in an evening celebration in September. Kate wrote: "He has passed away peacefully after a real fight.. that without Rowcroft Hospice the last 5 weeks would have been so so much harder in fact impossible - they have allowed us to make precious memories whilst ensuring Paul was cared for and comfortable - looking after us as much as him.
