Mescal's name has been on everybody's lips after recent performances but, apparently, it's often mispronounced
Paul Mescal has revealed that most people pronounce his name incorrectly and the Irish actor has placed the blame on a popular type of alcohol.
The 27-year-old, who shot to stardom for his role as Connell in the pandemic favourite Normal People, explained that many people refer to him as Paul 'Mezcal', confusing his surname with the Mexican alcoholic spirit. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Kildare native said: "People get confused with how to pronounce my name because of the drink mezcal. Everybody does it it!"
The Kildare native made it clear for anyone unsure about how to pronounce his surname that it should come with a soft 'S', meaning it should be pronounced 'mess-cal'.
