The Cork rower became the first Irish Olympian to win medals at three consecutive Olympic Games in August
"Phenomenal" Paul O'Donovan was hailed "an all-time great" as he was crowned RTÉ Sport Sportsperson of the Year for 2024 on Sunday evening.

"I like the sport, for one, that helps, I have had some good teammates over the years and that helps get the results." One wrote: "No better man than Paul O’Donovan to win sports person of the year An all time great, if not Ireland’s greatest athlete ever."
