Sharyn Mousley has recalled for the first time about growing up when Paul was hitting the height of his fame as Lily Savage
Paul O'Grady's daughter Sharyn Mousley has recalled for the first time about growing up when Paul was hitting the height of his fame as drag queen persona Lily Savage - even walking around their flat with his thigh-high boots on at the age of 13.
The feature-length documentary will feature Paul’s daughter Sharyn interviewed for the first time about her father alongside other close family and friends including Sir Ian McKellen, Julian Clary and Graham Norton while Paul’s own words will be used from earlier recordings. She continued: "My dad used to just leave bin bags around, he was working nights and then sleeping days. And also I remember going to the shop and getting tights for him. The guy would say 'You coming in for your dad's tights?' I'd be like, 'Yeah, you got a tan and black. It was just that was just normal. He used to leave me in a flat and go and work. I used to just love looking at his makeup.
In the new ITV documentary, celebrities and friends line up to pay tribute to Paul and also praise his support of gay rights and being a leading voice in the battle for LGBTQ+ equality. Comedian Julian Clary said: "I didn't know anyone else like Paul. I mean, obviously very, very funny and unique, but did actually really care about injustices in the world and did a lot of very kind things that no one knows about.
