Manchester United's transfer business has long been questioned under Erik ten Hag and Paul Scholes has taken fire at two of their recent captures - including Joshua Zirkzee

Paul Scholes doesn't believe Manchester United 's assistant Ruud van Nistelrooy would have gone after Joshua Zirkzee in the summer.

Instead the ex-United man believes Ten Hag is making all the calls but doesn't understand why he isn't leaning on someone of Van Nistelrooy's knowledge and experience - suggesting the former PSV man wouldn't have wanted Zirkzee or Rasmus Hojlund, who was signed 12 months earlier. Hojlund endured a slow start to life in Manchester, failing to score in the Premier League until Boxing Day. He enjoyed a purple patch midway through the campaign and just managed to hit double figures come the end and is currently sidelined.
