Townend came out on top with Mister Policeman at the Grade Three glory in the Pierce Molony Memorial Novice Chase at Thurles
Paul Townend has hailed Galopin Des Champs for his victory in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham earlier this week.
Townend and trainer Willie Mullins enjoyed a fruitful week at the festival and were back on winning ways on Saturday at Thurles. Townend rode Mister Policeman to glory in the Grade Three glory in the Pierce Molony Memorial Novice Chase at Thurles.Townend was left delighted by Galopin Des Champs’ performance at Cheltenham, speaking on Racing TV: “Huge performance from the horse I thought.”
“You know, he’d been there and done it I suppose, but he had to go back there and do it again. Complete different style to the year before, but, so brave yesterday, ground was testing, got going early and done it from the front, he was in the van the whole way.Townend continued: “He's brave like, you know I thought the fuel tank was flashing to tell you the truth.
