Actress Pauline McLynn has said she used to shock casting directors with her youthful looks when she auditioned for roles after Father Ted ended.But when the show ended in 1998, Pauline struggled to land parts in shows after casting directors didn’t realise she was much younger than Mrs Doyle was on the show at the time.
“So there was a bit of that. It took people a while just in the UK and beyond to cop on totally that I was younger than Mrs Doyle but now that I’m not anymore, that’s fine.” Pauline lost both her parents -Sheila and Padraig – to strokes over the years. Her mother Sheila died last October at the age of 86, while her father passed away 17 years ago when he was just 69-years-old.
"It is just reminding people to think that way if they have any suspicions – it’s better to be safe than sorry, and time is the one to remember."
