The parents of an eight\u002Dyear\u002Dold Saskatoon girl hope drivers take heed after she sustained a skull fracture after she was hit by a vehicle.
The eight-year-old girl was at home recuperating this week. She sustained a skull fracture and her recovery is expected to take up to six weeks, said her mother, Sabrina Irvine.
One of her friends described seeing Scarlett step onto the side of the road. She said her friend was turning at the moment she was struck, and the impact was loud, sounding like a drum. She watched Scarlett’s shoes fly off, she said. The vehicle was gone by the time Scarlett’s father, Brandon, went outside. The other children were able to describe the truck, but not its licence plate.
“The fact we didn’t have a licence plate, providing just the description of the vehicle, didn’t seem like phoning 911 was going to be helpful.”
