Two cars and a van collided and the pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.

The 35-year-old pedestrian was walking near the eastbound carriageway of the A726 Queensway, near the roundabout junction with Murrayhill and Cornwall Street on Wednesday evening.The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the road remained closed for six hours while cops carried out investigations.

The three cars involved in the crash were a black Citroen Berlingo van, a silver Seat Leon and a white Vauxhall Crossland.Officers are continuing to probe the incident and are urging any witnesses to get in touch. Sergeant Gemma Blackadder, of the Road Policing Unit in Motherwell said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances which led to this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to get in touch.“You can call police on 101, quoting reference 2829 of December 7.”
