It's the first time in two years that the pedestrian crossing has been used since it closed down two years ago due to the pandemic. U.S. Customs and Border Protection said it has"expanded use of additional facilities" at the port to help speed up processing,"... for humanitarian reasons and on a case-by-case basis," a CBP spokesperson told NBC 7 Wednesday night.
“I was just so so grateful that she’s alive,” said Kateryna Vechkanovaa, a student at La Sierra University in Riverside.Kateryna Vechkanova drove down from Riverside to the border to reunite with her friend who escaped the Ukranian capital of Kyviv following a journey through Romania, Germany, Spain and Mexico.
