Pele 'remains in stable condition' and is responding 'well to treatment'
Freelance reporter and late editorsaid he is ”strong” and has a lot of ”hope” in his first statement since it was reported he is receiving end-of-life care.

But earlier today Brazilian newspaper Folha de S.Paulo sparked concerns about the footballer’s health when it reportedIn a statement published on his Instagram page this evening Pele said he is “strong with a lot of hope” as he undergoes treatment.Earlier the hospital had said he was “still undergoing treatment and remains stable”.“I’m strong, with a lot of hope and I follow my treatment as usual. I want to thank the entire medical and nursing team for all the care I have received.
“I have a lot of faith in God and every message of love I receive from you all over the world keeps me full of energy. And watching Brazil in the World Cup too!In a statement medics at the hospital asaid Pele has responded well to treatment for a respiratory infection diagnosed this week and his condition has not worsened in the last 24 hours.
It said the three-time World Cup winner had made a good response to treatment for respiratory infection care”, adding he was undergoing a “reassessment of chemotherapy treatment”.
