Reports described “an initial rumbling, then a bang”
An earthquake hit part of part of the Midlands - just over an hour away from Nottingham - on Wednesday evening, with people said to have felt the impact just over the border in Derbyshire. The British Geological Survey confirmed the incidents and said the 3.3 magnitude tremor struck at 8.21pm with an epicentre at Tean, Staffordshire.
and the earthquake “felt more like a shunt, like something had hit something”. Windows and doors were reported as having rattled.
