Over 500 conditions are supported through Adult Disability Payment and PIP
The latest figures from Social Security Scotland show that by the end of January 2023, some 23,660 people across Scotland were receiving Adult Disability Payment . The new devolved benefit is replacing Personal Independence Payment and Disability Living Allowance for existing claimants aged under 65 on April 8, 2013.
Some 547 health conditions are being supported by PIP or ADP, but the list is not definitive and contains an 'unknown' category. The statistics from DWP for PIP conditions indicates an increase in the number of people claiming for Psychiatric Disorders, which includes a wide number of conditions including anxiety, stress, depression and learning disorders.
