'It’s weird being here. I literally shoulder-barged Andy Murray by accident yesterday, and I was like, “Oh my God, what is this?” It really is amazing.'

Ryan Mullen is on a mission to get a selfie with Snoop Dogg and his son Gino's toy Peppa Pig - after securing a snap with Taoiseach Simon Harris at the Olympic Village.

"Although the accent suggests otherwise and I was born in the UK, I was raised Irish. My granddad has still got that thick, thick Duleek accent, he’s never lost it. My entire family was Irish and when I started road-racing, no other country got a look-in.

"That’s all I wanted to do, I just wanted to represent Ireland. When I was in school cycling wasn’t cool so I was copping a bit of stick and now I’m at the Olympics, so it was worth it. Harris visited the Olympic Village yesterday and Mullen, who was among the athletes he chatted to, showed him the Peppa toy figure that his two-year-old son Gino left behind with his dad the cyclist before he travelled to Paris.
