Homeowners were evacuated from their apartments during the rescue mission
A person was rescued from a fire at a flat in Irlam on Monday evening after the blaze broke out in a kitchen. Emergency services raced to the scene of the fire at a block of apartments on Liverpool Road shortly before 8pm.
Onlookers described how the area became 'very smoky', with those living in the flats evacuated temporarily as the flames were dampened. Liverpool Road was closed off between Lord's Street and Fir Street, with police also at the scene.The owner of the Zara takeaway also provided drinks to the emergency services and worried residents who had to evacuate their flats.
