But voters should take a good look at some recent studies rating the financial performance of the provinces by the Fraser Institute, a right-wing think tank that you might expect would deliver more positive news for so-called conservative governments.or any of the Prairie provinces, which are all governed by conservative parties, whether they be progressive, united or named after a province.
Net debt for each person in Saskatchewan shot up 60 per cent from $7,950 to $12,697 in that period — once again outpacing the rise in federal debt per person and behind only Alberta and Manitoba . Yet few in Saskatchewan would say key areas of government spending like health care and education have been sustained in an acceptable way. They’re both struggling by almost all accounts. So where did all that money driving up the debt go?
