So why is the library so confident in its ability to meet its budget in an economy beset by inflation and interest rate increases? If there’s an answer that does not require advanced knowledge of public infrastructure financing, the library has failed to provide it.
Has the library already bought all the material it will need to build the new facility and been storing it someplace? While the stunning design features abundant light throughout the library, the library board and staff have fallen short when it comes to the transparency a project this controversial requires.This has proved one of the most contentious aspects of the library’s design, eclipsing most of the other features to an unfortunate degree. There’s even a page devoted to the washrooms in the design report.
