David Robertson and the Phillies entered the World Series with the less heralded bullpen, but Philadelphia's relief corps has been up to the task against the Astros through three games.PHILADELPHIA — Much was made of the Astros’ bullpen depth and multiple high-leverage options, but the Phillies’ relief corps has quietly become a story in its own right.

Philadelphia’s bullpen has thrown 12 ⅔ scoreless innings to start the World Series. It’s the fifth time that has happened in Fall Classic history and the first time since Toronto had 15⅓ scoreless relief innings to start the 1992 World Series against Atlanta. The Phillies’ bullpen has thrown 14.2 scoreless innings going back to Game 5 of the National League Championship Series against San Diego.

“It’s been every guy,” first baseman Rhys Hoskins said. “They’re coming in and shutting rallies down and coming in with guys on base and getting the big out. They’re throwing up zeroes after we were able to score and that’s such a big thing in the game regardless of when it’s being played, regular season or postseason.

“But you can really feel the momentum more in the postseason and it makes it that much more important that they’ve been nasty.”
